Semester is Coming to a Close

Close of the Semester

As the semester comes to a close, I hope to take everything that I have learned from the course into my future endeavors. During the semester, I felt like a lot of what we learned from the text book will help us in our careers. A few of the hands on assignments that we did helped us correlate the information we learned from the textbook with real life experiences. I liked the interviews that we did in class. It made us think of what it would be like to question individuals and how to come up with questions that will help you get more information out of a suspect or interviewee. The documentary project helped me analyze more and think of why certain things happened.
I was hoping to get more out of this class, for example, more hands on experiences that would help me with my career. I am more of a "do it" kind of individual so  , if we would of had examples of what was simply in the textbook I would of learned a lot more.

Video Reflections

ABC 7 News Video

The video I decided to watch was the ABC 7 news report where the cops shoot a young teenager because of a toy assault rifle. I feel like they are bound to get shot. It's your life or theres, well at least thats how I think a lot of cops have to think. Some individuals won't hesitate to take your life so if you're giving everyone the benefit of the doubt you might be the one to loose your life. Yes, in certain instances I think cops hesitate but when it comes to weapons that look like they'd threaten your life I think you can never be too safe. The fact that the officers told the boy to put the gun down and he didn't makes everything more sketch. As an officer if you see someone carrying a weapon and you tell them to put it down and they don't there goes that chance that it could be your life or theirs.
